SOME FACTS

Sander Ketelaars better known by his stage name Sander van Doorn Sander van Doorn was born on 28 February, 1979,  is a Dutch electro house DJ and record producer from Eindhoven.

When Sander van Doorn was a small boy, maybe five or six years old, his father used to tell him stories. But there was something different about these stories because they had a soundtrack.

"Looking back, I think I was already beginning to listen to music far more intensely than the average kid. Music really meant something to me. And that feeling has never really left me!"

"My dad was a big Jean-Michel Jarre fan," remembers van Doorn. "He used to love the Equinoxe album and, every week, he would put it on the record player and tell me stories that fitted with the music. When the music was high, the story was exciting; when it was low, the story was sad. He would even break the story into two halves so he could turn the record over".

"Not only did I enjoy the stories, I was also fascinated by the music. The strange sound of the synthesiser... songs that were very different to what I heard on the radio. There was so much emotion in the music. It allowed my imagination to roam free. I could see and hear all the things that my dad talked about in the stories".

"It was fantastic. Number one, you have all the synthesisers and drum machines. When you're a kid, this is the sound that lights up a spark in your imagination. It is the sound of spaceships and flying across the sky. Then, my dad would add some words and, wow, I have a film playing inside my head. From that moment, I began to understand the power of music. The hypnotic beat and the beautiful melodies working together to make you laugh and cry".

"As I got older, I realised that I was listening to music in a different way. Different to my friends".

Sander van Doorn began his recording career in 2004, releasing numerous tech-trance hits on Oxygen Recordings. He became a regular DJ at Ibiza's Judgement Sunday and the Gallery in London, and was featured on BBC Radio One's Essential Mix in 2006. "The project will be unveiled at Ultra Music Festival, with a huge sense of anticipation building around this landmark set.
